They say a picture is worth a thousand words, so here’s a screenshot of the one-pager PDF—and the associated page on the One-Pager Chords website—for the song What’s Up? by 4 Non Blondes. Find it on the following platforms:

This probably looks very different from the traditional chords you’re used to. Some of you might even feel some discomfort just by looking at it. Beware, this is not to everyone’s taste!

While making sense of a one-pager should be pretty intuitive, some more advanced concepts might seem a bit unfamiliar to the untrained eye. Don’t hesitate to check out the Usage section to learn more.

What’s so special about these one-pagers?

The main goal of the one-pagers is to maximize the font size of the content while retaining all the essential information about the lyrics and the chord structure.

Many strategies have been combined to achieve that result, but in summary it all boils down to this: avoid duplicated information and make the most out of the leftover empty space. See this section about creating your own one-pager to learn more.

Perfect for e-readers

The format of a one-pager PDF is US Letter (8.5" x 11") with 0.5" margins on all sides. The main reason behind this choice is that the content has a width to height ratio of 1.333, which is precisely the screen ratio of several popular models of e-book readers. This is ideal to load one-pagers on these e-reader devices.
