How to optimize the content
Tip
Before getting started, we highly recommend that you enable the boundaries and grid indicators in Writer. This really helps to visualize how the text is aligned in respect to another line and to the boundaries of the page.
Try it out:
-
Select
View>Boundaries -
Select
View>Grid and Helplines>Display Grid
From now on, we’re going to iterate over the optimization steps with the goal of freeing some space:
- At the bottom of the one-pager, by reducing the overall number of lines
- On the right, by shifting the content that’s aligned with the right boundary of the page slightly to the left
When space has been freed on both sides, it should be possible to increase the font size.
Note
If after increasing the font size, the text only slightly overflows to the second page (e.g. by only one line and there’s some empty space below the last line on the first page), it should be possible to squeeze that line back on the first page by reducing the vertical spacing of the text.
Just remember to not reduce it below 97%.
We will do that until there’s no more opportunity for optimizing the space. And keep in mind that these guidelines are also meant to create a visually pleasant one-pager š
