One-pagers, at first glance
The structure of a one-pager might seem a bit all over the place. Don’t panic, there’s a system behind it! With a bit of getting used to, it’s pretty easy to find your way around the page.
One important thing you can notice right away: a lot of space in the page is dedicated to the lyrics, which is pretty convenient when you don’t know the song by heart.
Another important detail is that the musical structure of the song is clearly visible. This is particularly useful when:
- The same chord is repeated over multiple bars
- A same bar contains several chords changes
- A group of chords is repeated several times in a row
This makes it really easy to figure out how to play a song (e.g. when to change chords) when you don’t know it very well.
Note
Chords always follow the original key of the song (assuming it’s based on standard tuning).
