The One-Pager Chords ODT template relies heavily on styles-based formatting. The main reason is, manual formatting (a.k.a. direct formatting) makes the inner structure of the ODT file way more complex. A file made with direct formatting simply can’t be converted to the One-Pager Chords XML file format.

The good news is, as long as the overall structure of the page looks like a classic one-pager, and even if it was fully formatted with direct formatting, the automagic reformat macro will do its best to convert the whole file to styles-based formatting for you 🧙
