Indeed, a measure can contain several chord changes. When the lyrics are aligned with a chord change in the middle of a measure, they are underlined in bold:

Type of underline Meaning
Bold solid underline Chord change in the middle of the first bar of the line
Bold dotted underline Chord change in the middle of the second bar of the line

For example:

Am F C G
   I am a passenger
Am F C E
And I ride and I ride
Am F C G
I ride through the city's backsides
Am F C E
I see the stars come out of the sky
Am F C G
Yeah, they're bright in a hollow sky
Am F C E
You know it looks so good tonight

Will result in:

F7 A# Dm Gm
And anytime you feel the pain, hey Jude, refrain
        A# C7 F
Don't carry the world upon your shoulders
F7 A# Dm Gm
For well you know that it's a fool who plays it cool
    A# C7 F
By making his world a little colder
      F7 C C7
