Overview
Sections, the main structure of a one-pager
Let’s start with the basics: the page is structured in sections reflecting the song structure, e.g.: Intro, Verses, Chorus, Pre- and Post-Chorus, Bridge, Instru(mental), Break, Fill, Outro, etc.
Section names are enclosed between brackets in what’s called a name tag, e.g.: [Intro], [Verse], [Chorus] and so on.
Note
You might also see some other sections, such as Hook, Riff, Interlude, Link, Coda. They’re just different names that sometimes cover similar/overlapping concepts. In the end, it doesn’t really matter. What matters is that the name of a section refers to itself and to itself only (e.g. [Chorus] doesn’t refer to [Hook] and vice versa).
In this chapter, our main one-pager example will be House of Gold by Twenty One Pilots.
